Tesla just hit a major global milestone: The company has now produced 8 million vehicles, with the 8 millionth car — an Ultra Red Model Y — rolling off the line at Gigafactory Berlin on June 6, 2025.

Even more impressive? Tesla added its latest million cars in just 8 months, despite temporary shutdowns at all four of its global manufacturing facilities earlier this year.
From 7 Million to 8 Million — In Record Time
Tesla produced its 7 millionth vehicle in October 2024 at the Fremont Factory. Fast forward to June 2025, and the company has already crossed 8 million — averaging 125,000 new vehicles per month, even with production line changeovers in Q1.
The changeovers were primarily to support the refreshed Model Y, which continues to dominate as the world’s best-selling vehicle for the second year in a row.
Why This Is a Big Deal
Achieving 8 million vehicles produced is a massive milestone for any automaker — especially for one that didn’t build its first mass-market car until 2012.
It also helps Tesla push back against media narratives about slowing demand, especially after a challenging Q1 and lower-than-expected sales in major markets like the U.S., Europe, and China.
Despite the headlines, the numbers speak for themselves: 1 million vehicles in 8 months during a global EV cooldown is proof that demand still exists — and Tesla is still delivering.
Giga Berlin’s Role in the Milestone
Tesla’s Berlin factory currently only builds the Model Y, but it’s a critical part of the company’s global strategy.
Gigafactory Berlin joins the other three Tesla plants that manufacture the Model Y:
- 🇨🇳 Giga Shanghai
- 🇺🇸 Giga Texas
- 🇺🇸 Fremont Factory
- 🇩🇪 Giga Berlin
That makes the Model Y the only Tesla vehicle produced on three different continents, enabling localized production, faster delivery times, and lower logistical costs.
Tesla’s Global Production Footprint (2025)
| Factory | Key Models Produced | Continent |
|---|---|---|
| Fremont (USA) | Model S, Model 3, Model X, Model Y | North America |
| Giga Texas (USA) | Model Y, Cybertruck | North America |
| Giga Berlin (Germany) | Model Y (Ultra Red, LFP) | Europe |
| Giga Shanghai (China) | Model 3, Model Y | Asia |
