Tesla seems ready to sell its updated Model Y in North America. They’ve started offering big discounts on the current Model Y models.
Tesla recently released a redesigned Model Y in Asia, the Pacific, and Europe. People have been wondering when it would come to the US and Canada.
Some think the new version will arrive in the US soon. The current discounts on existing Model Ys in the US and Canada suggest this might be true.
This week, Tesla cut prices by up to $4,120 on existing Model Ys in both countries. This is a common tactic to clear out old stock before a new version arrives.
We found discounts from $960 to $2,500 on different Model Ys on Tesla website. The Long Range all-wheel drive (AWD) version had the biggest price drops. Before tax credits (which might change soon), some of these were selling for as low as $47,490, even with added features like special paint or wheels.
Some high-performance versions had discounts of $4,120, bringing their price down to $47,370 before credits. So, if you want a fully loaded current Model Y at a good price, now might be the time to buy.
With the tax credit, some AWD Long Range models were as low as $39,990 with upgrades, and the rear-wheel drive (RWD) version was as low as $37,490.
Tesla did something similar in China, offering discounts on the current Model Y before the new one came out. They also did this with the Model 3 in 2023 and 2024, offering discounts before the new version arrived in North America.
The new Model Y has been seen since mid-2024. It looks like it has light bars instead of regular headlights and taillights, and it also has a front-facing camera for its self-driving features.
We don’t know exactly when the new Model Y will be released in the US or Canada, but with these big discounts, it could be as soon as this month.
