A mom reported that her son’s Tesla Model 3 seat burned while driving from California to Colorado.
The son smelled burning and felt heat on his back. He pulled over and found the vegan leather seats burned through.
She writes…
“My son has a 2018 Model 3 Performance. (Pleasanton, California) He was home for winter break, and on his drive back to Boulder, Colorado, where he goes to college at the University of Colorado, he called me really upset.
He smelled burning, and his back was getting hot around Utah. And he pulled the car over to discover the coils of his seat were burning through.”
The mom posted about this online and couldn’t find similar cases. Tesla told her to call 911 if in danger.
“I googled it and couldn’t find this happening to anyone, and when I called Tesla, they said to call 911 if he’s in danger. He shut off the heater, drove back, and is trying to get in for an appointment. Has anyone else experienced this? I have a 2022 Model 3 Performance, and I’ve never had a problem.”
Some people don’t believe the story because the seat heater shouldn’t reach the back. The mom posted more pictures but some people still doubt it. See post here.
