I Bought a Tesla Cybertruck and Spent 55 Days at the Service Center, Tesla Finally Bought It Back Under Lemon Law

Share Facebook Twitter WhatsApp LinkedIn Telegram Reddit

Bob from Tennessee was once a proud Cybertruck owner. But after 15 service visits and nearly two months without his vehicle, that pride turned into frustration and finally, relief. Tesla has officially bought back his truck under the Lemon Law.

This wasn’t just about a few scratches or rattles. Bob’s Cybertruck had issues that refused to go away, no matter how many times he took it in.

And now? It’s gone. Bought back. Branded for life with the words: “LEMON LAW BUYBACK.”

15 Service Visits. 55 Days in the Shop.

Bob shared the painful timeline of his ownership on the Cybertruck Owners Club forum:

“Lemon Law Buyback – It’s Done

Total repair attempts: 15

Total days out of service: 55

Recurring unresolved issues…”

Here’s what went wrong:

  • Door misalignment — 4 repair attempts
  • Front drive unit whine/noise — 5 attempts
  • Water leaking from the tonneau cover — 3 attempts
  • Suspension clunking — 2 attempts
  • Water leaks from driver/passenger doors — 8 attempts
  • Rear drive inverter false undervoltage errors — resulted in disabled drive units
  • PowerShare system malfunction — never worked and was deemed hazardous

Tesla Sent Him the Official Letter

Alongside his post, Bob uploaded a photo of the official Tesla document marking the end of the saga:

“THE TITLE TO THIS MOTOR VEHICLE HAS BEEN PERMANENTLY INSCRIBED WITH THE NOTATION ‘LEMON LAW BUYBACK.’”

Bob says he’s happy to be done with it.

And honestly? Who can blame him?

Other Owners Say “Try Again!” But Bob Says “Absolutely Not”

In the comments, Cybertruck owners tried to talk Bob into buying another one — now that the price has dropped.

“It’s $20,000 cheaper now!”

“You can get a flawless one this time.”

“Mine’s perfect — you just got a bad unit.”

Even Adam from Denver, who says he just picked up VIN #69,6xx, claims his Cybertruck has been “flawless.”

But Bob isn’t buying it.

“You Can’t Be Serious”

Bob responded directly — and decisively:

“It’s not really $20,000 less. The Foundation Series included things the new trucks don’t. You just weren’t given a choice.”

He then explained that the Cybertruck’s depreciation is one of the worst in the industry.

Bob even asked Grok, the AI chatbot, about Cybertruck resale value. Here’s what it told him:

“The Tesla Cybertruck depreciates faster than most vehicles in the U.S., especially compared to traditional trucks like the F-150. First-year depreciation of 35–45% is common.”

He added:

“Some issues may not be in every truck, but they have the potential to be. And that’s not worth spending $100,000 just to risk starting all over again.”

“This Is Life Giving Me a Do-Over”

For Bob, this isn’t just a refund — it’s a second chance.

“I may consider getting another Tesla, but I will not buy another Cybertruck until there’s a significant redesign. And based on Tesla’s pace… that may take a while.”

He’s not mad. He’s done. Bob’s tone wasn’t angry — it was final.

What Would You Do?

Would you buy another Cybertruck after going through Bob’s experience?

Do you think Tesla is improving build quality fast enough?
